More About The Crown City

Welcome to Coronado, a small beach community in sunny San Diego, CA. Founded in 1890, Coronado is a proud American city with an island feel. With strong values and a tight knit community, Coronado truly is the Crown of San Diego. It is home to the San Diego Naval Base, and a proud home to Heroes and their families. Nestled between the San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, Coronado is the perfect place for you to settle down.

Coronado’s Perfect Beaches

Consistently voted one of America’s best beaches, Coronado’s beaches glisten year round due to the mineral Mica in the sand and gentle waves caress the shoreline. Whether you’re looking for a romantic island getaway with your partner, or a fun-filled family beach vacation, you’ll find the idyllic beach paradise in “The Crown City” and neighboring regions. From the shores of Silver Strand State Beach to the tip of the Coronado Municipal Beach, you’ll find plenty of wide open sand, gentle waves and gorgeous views.

Where to go

Coronado Central Beach runs along Ocean Boulevard with a back drop of exquisite luxury homes and mansions. Beach accessible wheelchairs are available to the public, free of charge, at the Central Beach Lifeguard Tower.

North Beach, also known as Dog Beach, is the only dog friendly beach in Coronado and is frequented by locals and San Diegans with their canine companions.  Seeing all kinds of dogs frolicking and playing happily together in the Pacific Ocean at Coronado Beach is one of the very special sites in Coronado!

Glorietta Bay offers a unique view of the Glorietta Bay Hotel and the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. With a large grass-filled park, restrooms, playground equipment, and a small beach area, the Glorietta Bay Beach is a great beach for families.

Silver Strand State Beach is located 4.5 miles south of Coronado Village along the Silver Strand. Three separate tunnels underneath the freeway, located north of the Loews Coronado Cays Bay Resort Hotel allow access to bayside beach and picnic areas and the Loews Coronado Bay Resort.

Ferry Landing Marketplace offers a sandy beach area adjacent to a fishing/ferry pier. With a grassy lawn and stunning views of San Diego Bay, this is a great place to take in spectacular views of downtown San Diego while enjoying the tranquil waters of the Bay.
